Tasmania’s property system is officially going paperless

From 1 September 2026, the Tasmanian Land Titles Office will permanently retire paper Certificates of Title. Here is what you need to know about the switch to e-titles:

No more paper titles: Physical title documents are no longer required for property transactions.

100% digital lodgments: Settlements and dealings are now securely processed through online systems like TOLD and PEXA.

Keep it for sentiment: If you still have your old physical paper deed, you can keep it as a keepsake—it just holds no legal value anymore. Whether you are buying, selling, or managing property, the process is now faster, more secure, and entirely digital.
